Supply a written report to identify any major structural, mechanical, or safety issues in the home that should be fixed before or immediately after moving in.
Included in the same written report, identifying minor issues that could develop into future problems if not monitored and/or repaired.
Explain the types and locations of the systems in the home to help you understand what you are buying - furnace or boiler, electrical system, locations of shut offs, etc.
Document the above three points in a well-organized, photo-documented home inspection report - something you'll want to save and refer back to over the years. It's the closest thing you'll get to an owner's manual for your home. First time home buyers find this format especially useful.
To further ensure we are inspecting to consistently high standards, we work hard to fulfill, and in most cases exceed, the national inspection standards set by the American Society of Home Inspectors (ASHI). We are fully licensed and insured in the States of New Jersey and New York.
Inspections cover all aspects of the home - structural systems, heating and cooling, electrical systems, plumbing systems, roofing, building envelope, exterior features and drainage, interior components, and standard appliances. Basically, if we can get to it, we'll inspect it.
While each component of the home is inspected individually, we inspect the house as a complete system as well. This approach is critical to really understand your home. For example, we might say the exterior grading directs water against your foundation, which contributes to a damp basement, and the dampness in the basement is migrating through your home and ending up in your attic. Once there, it condenses causing moisture and mold growth on the plywood of the roof. Before you go through the trouble of treating the mold, wouldn’t it make sense to address the original problem first?
We recommend if at all possible you attend the inspection. Set aside a full morning or afternoon and go along with the inspector - he will explain at each step what he is doing and the findings. It's also your chance to ask questions and become comfortable with your future home and its needs. When you receive the inspection report, usually within 24 hours, you'll already know what it says and what's most important. We proudly do not prepare your report on site, a useful, thorough photo-documented report takes time and thought. We believe a 20 minute report compiled at the house is a disservice to you.
The report uses the latest in home inspection software (3D Inspection Systems). It is sent via email and can be easily downloaded and printed. If any questions arise after the inspection, the inspector is readily available to address any further concerns you may have, happily and free of charge.
The bottom line, we’ve only scratched the surface of what an inspection by Northeast Home Inspections can do for you. Just contact us and we will pick it up from there. Contact Us Now: 973-534-6858
